Fumaric acid is used to produce unsaturated polyester resin, which is characterized by good chemical corrosion resistance and heat resistance.
Copolymers of fumaric acid and vinyl acetate are good adhesives. Copolymers of fumaric acid and styrene are raw materials for making FRP. Plasticizers prepared by fumaric acid are non-toxic and can be used for vinyl acetate latex in food contact.
This product is a fine chemical intermediate such as medicine and optical bleaching agent. It is used in the production of antidote dimercaptosuccinic acid in the pharmaceutical industry. It neutralizes fumaric acid with sodium carbonate to get fumaric acid ([17013-01-3]), and then replaces it with ferrous sulfate to get ferric fumaric acid.
