Fuction
Methyl tert-butyl ether is currently a replacement for tetraethyl lead. It is produced by pyrolysis of carbon tetrabutyrene and methanol as raw materials, under the catalytic action of macroporous sulfonic acid cation exchange resin, and refined.
Product performance: This product has a camphor-like odor, colorless and transparent, and can be completely miscible with alcohol, ether, aliphatic hydrocarbon, aromatic hydrocarbon, halogenated solvent at room temperature. Like other methyl tertiary alkyl ethers, this product has another very important property, namely, it is highly resistant to auto-oxidation and is not easy to form peroxides.
It is mainly used as a blending agent for high-octane gasoline in refineries. It can also be used as a solvent for paraffin, oil, spices, alkaloids, resins, rubber, and organic synthesis reagents. Flammable and volatile, there is a danger of explosion in case of fire and heat.
