Chemical Properties: Colorless flake crystal. The melting point is 234ºC (phthalic anhydride is generated when heated to 200ºC or above), and the relative density is 1.593. Soluble in methanol, ethanol, slightly soluble in water and ether, insoluble in chloroform.
Application: For synthetic resin, synthetic fiber and medicine, etc. Due to the similar chemical properties of phthalic acid and phthalic anhydride, phthalic anhydride is often produced directly in industry. In application, phthalic anhydride can be used instead of phthalic acid.
